A Death in the Filk Family
As many who are reading this may now know, Cynthia McQuillan died in her sleep on January 14, 2006. I gather that many folks found out about it at Arisia. I only found out a day or two ago. Lee Gold says that she will be organizing a memorial filk circle at WorldCon, aka L. A. con IV this year. I'm going to try to learn the words to "Night's Master" by then. It was my first exposure to Tanith Lee's Flat Earth books. I don't think the words are online, but I have the tape with the song. And I should get "Fevre Dream" solidly into my head. It's a good song about a good book. The last time I tried to sing it, well, when I asked if I'd come within a country mile of the actual tune, Crystal kindly told me that I'd sort of spiraled around it. (Believe me, this was kind -- I was croaking so badly to my ears that I aborted the song mid-verse.)
