Buffy, Angel, X-Men

Buffy's had some cool stuff, stuff which would have been cooler at the halfway point than now, when we know the writers can do anything because the series is ending. Also, even a couple of fans of the stuff I don't like admitted there was an awful lot of marking time.

Angel continues to be delightful, despite a few consistency questions I have. But I don't mind those. This is a good, dopey fun, not a deep and meaningful show.

Saturday, we decided to see X-Men 2, aiming for a cheaper matinee. [livejournal.com profile] mnemex got tickets, but, as we discovered, when we showed up, they were for the wrong time and the wrong movie. And by then, the show we wanted was long since sold out. The manager agreed to give us tickets to the next show at the matinee price, so we got to eat before the movie. Kind of ideal, all around.

We did have the kiddie problem -- some kid was crying and kicking the side of a chair. And a couple of folks told the parents they owed everyone the price of the movie. And some guy had a loud, classical music playing cell phone that went off twice.

It didn't matter. The movie still rocks. It takes two minutes or less of screen time to establish basic relationships among several people -- something other movies would probably spend 10 minutes on, underlining each point for the obviously Stoopid Audience. I think someone ignorant of both the comic and movie #1 could follow this, but I've yet to test it. We had a guinea pig for #1, who hadn't read the comic book, and she had no problem following that one.
