There used to be 3 Thai restaurants called Rungsit. One was on 23rd Street in Manhattan, reasonably cheap and very good. We went to the one on 34th tonight, and the woman there remembered [livejournal.com profile] mnemex, even though it's been about a year since he was there. She confirmed that the 23rd Street restaurant was dead, dead, dead.

"What about the one in Jerusalem?" I asked.

She sighed and said that things were bad in Jerusalem and that the restaurant had closed. I wasn't surprised. And, in the scale of things, it's got a low disaster rating. But there was something delightful about there being 3 branches of this place, 2 in Manhattan, 1 in Jerusalem.

She said there'd be a 10 minute wait and gave us menus. We ordered. The wait was more like a half hour or 45 minutes, though she did bring us the drinks we'd ordered. This place seems to have gotten more popular by raising its prices.
