I'm currently backing up my 3 1/2-inch discs. I have a desktop that takes these discs, and that capability was one of my requirements when I got a desktop, lo these many years ago. Sure, some of the files are corrupted, but I think I may have copied everything over once before. This really is for maximum redundancy.

I also have a small number of 5 1/4 inch floppies. I have no way to copy these at the moment, and I gather that no one makes a 5 1/4 inch drive that can connect to any of our machines. [livejournal.com profile] mnemex says that the most practical way might be to get an ancient computer that can read 5 1/4 inch and 3 1/2 inch discs. This seems a bit extreme -- does anyone have ancient 5 1/4 inch disc reading capabilities?
