Okay, after having it plugged it, I left the laptop on stand by from 1:40 am to 9:05 am. 84% power when I turned it off.
Ctl-Alt-Del and Start Menu-Turn Off Computer both have working Stand By.
Hypothesis: Closing the lid alone doesn't work to send computer into stand by mode, possibly because something is glitched.
