Okay, we have voted. I have never seen our polling place this crowded. It is possible that this is because of the hour and the year, but it is also possible that this election is simply getting bigger numbers.
I don't remember the 2004 voting that clearly. I know we did it early, as that was the day I'd set up to go with my mother to her doctor, and I wanted to make sure I'd voted first. She had a bit of trouble finding the correct turn off, which worried me, given that the reason we were going was that I'd had my attention drawn to the possibility that she had or was developing dementia. What I saw and heard at the doctor's office and after, at home, was pretty convincing, and I was and am boggled that the doctor thought that the first thing to do was to set up a colonoscopy, and only after that was done, think about setting up an appointment with a neurologist.
So, in the evening, as the meeting for the New York Review of Science Fiction was breaking up, and I was waiting for![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
mnemex to pick me up, I was looking bad enough that one woman was seriously dubious about leaving me on my own, dubious as in not being sure I might not wander out into traffic levels of dubiousness. For the record, while she might have been right, this one had nothing to do with the results of the 2004 election.
