mnemex and I saw Pirates of the Caribbean. Lots of fun. Erik Hanson heard that the three best pirate movies are supposed to be this, Captain Blood, and the original Treasure Island. I've seen the first two for sure, and they both have different strengths and weaknesses. I like the intelligence of the characters in the first, but the plot makes a bit more sense in the second, and is certainly more complex. I may have seen the third, but barely remember it.
Anyway, the plot of the first does mostly hold up -- the quibbles have to do with minor twists, where it seems things are done 'cuz it's dramatic rather than logical. It's still a good watch.
