On Wednesday, [livejournal.com profile] mnemex and I joined a friend for dinner, and then for dessert at Max Brenner's. We ordered conservatively, and the dessert was delicious.

But, the music was booming. It was Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", which I do like, but not at that volume. And, even louder than the singer were the other musical instruments. And, people were trying to have conversations at the restaurant. Am I strange to think that, if people raise their voices in an attempt to talk over the music, maybe this should be a signal to the restaurant staff that the music should be turned down, not up?
