I finished Half a Crown, the third in Jo Walton's Small Change trilogy. I'd read the first two and the beginning of the third some time back, then had to stop and give myself a break.

There's an odd tension in the ending. On the one hand, there are emotional reasons it has to go where it does, and the ending does not, in any way, come out of the blue. On the other, there is an uneasy tension. As I recall, Walton wasn't entirely satisfied with this one, but then, as she said at WorldCon, she's not really happy with anything right after she's just written it.
