Saw last night's Angel episode.
Okay, we had two plots. Fred's parents come to see their daughter, unaware that she's dead, and Illyria mimics her. And no one thought to tell Fred's parents she was dead?
Now, there was an easy fix for this requiring about a line and a half of dialogue.
Wesley: We tried to contact you, but --
Fred's parents (either one, really): Yes, we decided to go on vacation, staying out of touch with everyone, just the two of us. Fred must be so worried!
See? Really simple patch for something I shouldn't be going, "I don't believe they were so dumb" about.

mnemex put it, silly, but not really funny. So, big bad Angelus was really a goofball? And he and Spike are being dumb kids. Neglecting an item that may cause a big war? You know, I don't really care.
I don't think I would have minded the suplot nearly so much if it hadn't happened now, so close to the season ender, clearly filler. This is the wrong place for that kind of filler.
