Yesterday, Beth Bartley emailed us (and a whole bunch of others) to remind us there was a lunar eclipse. We came down and watched it, [livejournal.com profile] mnemex pointing it out to folks walking by. We saw most of the part where the moon vanishes, then went back in and caught the last bits out our window. But the clouds meant that we didn't get to see the moon reappearing. Ah well, we know she's up there.

Attention: I have stolen the moon. Please leave 2 million
dollars in a plain paper sack by the sea of tranquility.
And come alone!

Drat. Of course, here in Cork we had the worst flooding in 40 years the night of the eclipse. That made viewing a little problematic. A total lunar eclipse is fun, though, and I remember pointing it out to passersby too. Funny how few people look up in cities.

I was frantically scraping the money together when I looked out my window and saw the moon.

So, who actually paid the ransom? Or was there an escape or a daring rescue?
