Well, I wound up taking 2 sick days, going back to work on Friday. [livejournal.com profile] mnemex and I weren't utterly sure at the time if I ought to take off two days, and were quite sure I shouldn't take three. By Friday, I felt well enough to go in -- well enough that it wasn't even a question -- and I felt that I had been correct to take off Thursday as well as Wednesday.

I still sounded like I had a frog in my throat, but I described myself as "Congested, but functional." Nevertheless, one of my researchers, hearing me cough, said that he really didn't want my germs. And he has a point. I don't think I was contagious then, but it is true that people, including me, will be very stingy about taking off sick time, sometimes even when we should. Five sick days per year.

Of course, the time I went to work at my previous job with a fever wasn't entirely my fault. It was winter. The heat wasn't working for a day or two. So, we were -all- bundled up in our winter coats. I didn't actually realize I had a fever.
