Feeling somewhat better now, having slept much of the day. [livejournal.com profile] mnemex made it into work, and is stalking the wild dinner for us. He was probably fighting off this whatever-it-was for much of the last week, so he's ahead of me on the healing curve.

I've read a bit further in the Players' Book for Sweet Dreams. I'm not sure if the system really needs to be as crunchy as it looks. OTOH, I did enjoy the 10 minute demo I got into a GenCon. OTOHOH, a ten minute demo with the author running things doesn't necessarily give one an accurate sense of how smoothly the game runs in the author's absence.

I do like that the game seems designed to handle everything from Buffy and Smallville to Heathers and Pump up the Volume, which last I should see. I like that there are rules for various kinds of social combat and for heartbreak. Okay, I'm not yet sure if the rules could be simpler, but I am biased towards dirt simple. I suspect part of the reason I'm enjoying this is that I've read just enough manga and seen just enough anime to appreciate how the rules would work for certain anime / manga genres.

The actual test will come if we ever play the game.
