We put in the other air conditioner, actually swapping it with the one in the bedroom. We managed not to dislodge the birds' nest under the bedroom ac, though, for some reason, it was way empty by the time we, or rather,
mnemex, got the ac out. Then we cleaned it. It was filthy -- full of gunk. This may explain why it wasn't working so well. Or maybe it was the vent thing
mnemex twiddled after moving it. And we re-arranged stuff in one of the closets. So, all the acs are in, and we just have to get better plastic panels to replace the plastic thingies that came with the acs. I measured the distances, but goofed and came up an inch or so short.
Finally read Will Shetterly's Cats Have No Lord. Not a deep book, but a lot of fun to read. I should re-read Fall of the Kings, but as

Oh, yes, do! I read the entire Musketeer oeurvre one summer while in college. Well worth it! Very well worth it!
And if you would be interested in something a bit more contemporary, the same summer, I read Upton SInclair's "Lanny Budd" series (which I am rereading slowly now, thanks to the BPL Friends of the Library Book Sale and the wonderful folks at Here's A Bookstore (on Coney Island Avenue). It is a wonderful fictional account of the world, from pre-World War I to post-World War II, as seen through the eyes of the beloved illegitimate son of a munitions maker.

And I've got 3 James White omnibuses to read, unread Diana Wynne Jones and Nancy Springer still, not to mention the rpgs I'm reviewing (got a backlog), and I promised myself I'd review the Dying Earth RPG before I let myself read the Vance.
