I've downloaded and set up Notepad++, which is probably good because TextPad seems to be hitting a snag. I'll see what I can do about that later.

I've downloaded Skype, and I still need to set that up.

I've backed up the external hard drive onto Jessica. She has no beef with it. But, she seems to have random ideas of which SD cards with which she will work and play well.

I've done all the updates I think are available for Windows XP, except one for Internet Explorer, as I don't use IE.

While you may not use MSIE (I don't, if at all humanly possible), it's probably best to get it updated, because Windows XP does use it for various internal stuff.

Sounds like all is going well; *crosses fingers* for continued computery goodness.

Yeah, I'd patch IE. Otherwise you have potential vulnerabilities where both the OS and other programs use it (it's possible to call some of its functionality via an API).
