So, [livejournal.com profile] mnemex, [livejournal.com profile] womzilla, and I are at Moshe Feder's house, comfortable, if a bit tired. womzilla's car got a flat as he was generously playing ferryman to get folks home or to a subway.

The timing could have been worse. As it was, womzilla noted he had not been on a highway when the tire blew. mnemex and I are the final carload, and the ones least inconvenienced by the delay. Heck, we can walk to the subway; we'd just rather not, given the cold weather.

womzilla called AAA at about 11:15 pm or so and was told that help would arrive no later than 12:15 am, that he'd be called five minutes before the truck arrived, and that he had to be outside, cold or no cold, because the truck would not stop if no one was outside.

At 12:20 am, he called and was told it would be another half hour. At 12:50 am, he called and was told it would be another fifteen minutes.

It's now 1:00 am.

That's weird. My father had to call AAA a few weeks back, when his car wouldn't start after we'd dropped my grandparents off, and they didn't say anything about having to wait outside the car. The truck took over an hour to get there, but it stopped even though we were inside the car.
