Yesterday -- er, Thursday, that is,
mnemex and I went out for more Malaysian food. We'd had some Monday, and I'd a hankering for more of that curried goodness.
mnemex: Hm, how many non-curried dishes are we getting, out of 4?
drcpunk: Um, none?
mnemex: Yep.
They were fine. And we had a couple of the weird shake things -- a chender coconut ice and a red bean coconut ice. No room for the Chinatown Ice Cream Parlor.
Back we went into the subway. On the train, there was this guy who was like an opera singer. Did Ave Maria and some Motzart thingy, then gracefully gave way for the blind violinist -- he's been on the train many times, but he's quite good. This was the first time we saw the singer.
We got off the yellow train -- N or R -- and walked past a really good saxaphonist. Then, up the stairs, heading for the escalator to the #7, passing a decent drummer and a guy tap dancing to the drum on a box.
At work, there are, of course, times I suspect the folks in my department just might be goofing off a tad. But the time when I found one of them fixing a walkman for another was not one of them. I don't listen to music myself at work, but I consider fixing the walkman as job related and essential as, say, fixing the toilet.
Sigh. Whatever happened to the War for the Oaks movie?

"A hankering for that curried goodness?" I hear that in Avram's voice, not yours.

Yes, I definitely got that phrasing from Avram. But it is what I was feeling. I just wanted That. Particular. Dish. and That. Particular. Cuisine.
If you read this while it is before, say, 4 pm on Sunday the 10, maybe give us a call sometime around noon-1ish or so -- maybe you, me, and Josh can try for Pirates of the Caribbean (um, one r, 2 bs, correct?).
