Update

My father went into crisis and was taken to the hospital, where the doctor informed my brother that, as we think he wished, our father did essentially die at home. He is currently still alive in that his heart is beating, but brain activity is another matter, and we're all clear that our father wouldn't want to be kept in a vegetative state. So, we opted for keeping him as comfortable as possible until he passes, rather than trying to extend life without brain activity.

I'm not necessarily functioning on all cylinders right now, and my brother somewhat less so. mnemex is with us, and will be with me, of course. My brother may or may not come home with us tonight.
