The awards results are in -- McKillip's Ombria in Shadow took it for the Adult list, which I think is what should have happened (and I was good -- I reread all three entries over before voting). Summerlands took it for the Childrens' list. I wouldn't have voted for it, but I'm not on the Childrens' committee, and I can see why people with an appreciation of the genre would vote for it. Heck,
mnemex voted for it. His bit was that it was more original than Coraline, though we agreed that Coraline is very, very good. I would have liked to see The Great Good Thing on the Childrens' list, and
mnemex allowed as how it might have gotten his vote had it been there. It would also have been nice to see The Stones are Hatching, but I think GGT would still have gotten my vote. Had I voted. (Note to self: Get sequel to GGT. I gotta see where he takes this.)
Okay, the Godlike review went to rpg.net and will go live in about a week. Maybe less.
The Sorcerer review is almost done. I want to settle a math question about odds. It's a very minor part of my review, but I'd like to get it right. Once
mnemex figures the odds and explains it to me, I'll tweak one sentence or not.
The Dying Earth review is in more progress. I've gotten up to chapter 7 in the pre-playtest part. I'll probably have to whack away at everything once it's in first draft.
I'm reading the first supplement for Sorcerer, visions of pulpery goodness in my head.
