Shifting Icons

For some reason, my desktop has icons that shift. So, my icon for a Word or a plain text file might look like the icon for a zip file, or for an Acrobat file. This has been going on for some time, and I've been ignoring it. Anyone have any idea why it's like that, and if I ought to do something?

On the subject of shifting icons.... I have no idea.

I'm lazy about that -- unlike many lj users, I do not stay on it 24/7 or even a mere 4 hours a day. When I want to see a friend's lj, well, I type in the entire url. Honest. (Will get to it when I can -- have to run larp on Saturday, aieee!)
