[livejournal.com profile] mnemex and I went to see Catwoman. Good silly fun. The movie played fair, even if the plot was obvious, and the holes we spotted weren't too offensive for our intelligence to handle.

Oh, it's bad, all right.

But we -expected- bad, and it was a fun, intelligent, "yeah, we know the world doesn't actually work this way" kind of bad.

And hey, it's a movie with a black, self-confident superambiguious fighting against evil cosmetics. There's some good there. :)

And it had Halle Berry poured into her clothes, which according to Manny was worth a lot of bad movie. :)

Um. Actually, I think it was more the clothes which were poured onto Halle Berry. Or dribbled, perhaps.

Mostly, the movie's major grace was not taking itself seriously. At all -- with that, decent cinematography, and good (if not believable, even a little bit; the plot stretches even more than Berry's clothes do) writing, there's only so bad you can get.

Yeah, he did mention that the scripting wasn't as bad as the story it worked with.

Well, apart from the apparent 15 years of testing a product, once one takes the rules of the movie's pulplogic and magic cats, where is the actual -bad-?
