Chess Tables II

mnemex told me the story about the Chess Tables when we were walking home from the subway. We had gotten on an express, not the local, and decided to walk from the express stop farther into Queens, as opposed to the one nearer to Manhattan. There's a story about the Queens, but that isn't the story mnemex told me.

He told me the story he put in his lj. Early on, I asked him if the Chess Tables played each other. He said that they didn't, but he's wrong. They do play each other, but only when there's no one around to see. And no one knows the stakes they play for.
