[livejournal.com profile] mnemex and I have finished watching the 4 hour DVD Fellowship of the Rings. IMO, it has more Good Stuff, but no less Bad Stuff.

Oh, and speaking mythopoeically, I've finished Lisa Goldstein's The Alchemist's Door, about John Dee and Rabbi Loew. Not sure it will make my finalist list, but it was a fun read, and I see why it was nominated. And [livejournal.com profile] mnemex pressed Roderick Townley's The Great Good Thing on me. Okay, Neil Gaiman's Coraline might actually have some competition. Then again, Geraldine McCaughrean's The Stones Are Hatching is also very good -- I highly recommend this one.

[livejournal.com profile] mnemex wants me to serve on both committees, but I don't think I can. What I'd do is ignore anything he didn't press on me in the Children's list, which is not kosher. The idea is to form my tastes, not repeat his. Oh, we do screen for each other to a degree in the Adult's list -- skip this one, you have to make time for that one -- but that's a question of prioritizing as it comes down to the wire.

But folks who want to be on the Children's committee, please, please, do consider joining. It has 7 members, so individual tastes swing things far too wildly. Go to www.mythsoc.org if you want to think about it, or look at old lists.
