We managed to hold the first session of the Sorcerer campaign. I confirmed that, yes, it really does throw my gming to run in a house with cats. Even [livejournal.com profile] lordess's insanely cute cats. Maybe especially with her insanely cute cats. They love to go after pens. And dice. And lie on top of character sheets. And, [livejournal.com profile] mnemex and I were clearly having cat allergy issues.

The session itself could have been better, especially the fight scene that ran too much like a D&D game and not enough like a Sorcerer game. Julian had an idea that might work, and mnemex put his finger on the problem I have with cruchy combat rules to begin with, though I'm still not sure how to solve it. With 20-20 hindsight, the general outcome was obvious enough that we shouldn't have played out the combat, but figured out general results, especially as many of us were hungry before the combat began, and quite starving by the time it ended.

Still, people said that they were interested in a second session, and I think there were enough things I did right to have some idea of where to go from here.
