This past Sunday, Darkovercon featured, as it has for years, a Clam Chowder concert -- with sign language translation -- which raises money for Children's Hospital. The Washington Post has an article about last year's concert here.

We raised over $5,000 for The Usual Song. Then, someone suggested that John Huff do a certain song from Rocky Horror, in full garb, if we all happened to raise, oh, $10,000. Kathy started to explain that this wouldn't work -- the guitar would catch on the fishnet stockings -- but John interrupted and said that if we raised $10,000 for Children's Hospital -- and the hospital gets matching funds -- he'd find a way to make it work.

We did. He did.

Kathleen Sobansky: You are the most altruistic and filthy-minded bunch.

I doubt we're going to be able to repeat this feat. Odds are it'll be $3,000 - $5,000 next year. But, wow.
