After game session today, Beth, [livejournal.com profile] agrumer, [livejournal.com profile] mnemex, and I trundled into the city. [livejournal.com profile] mnemex headed off to Neutral Ground, while the rest of us went to the Ben & Jerry's at 43rd and 8th. It was crowded, probably the after-theater crowd. And when folks got up from booths and tables, -no one- did the send one person from the group to claim them. It just didn't seem right, I think.

We were there, as opposed to anywhere else, cuz [livejournal.com profile] agrumer wanted a waffle cone, but B&J were fresh out, alas. Still, we got ice cream, and he headed for the back, where we found a booth waiting for us. Mmm, ice cream.

Okay, [livejournal.com profile] mnemex and I saw Pirates of the Caribbean. Lots of fun. Erik Hanson heard that the three best pirate movies are supposed to be this, Captain Blood, and the original Treasure Island. I've seen the first two for sure, and they both have different strengths and weaknesses. I like the intelligence of the characters in the first, but the plot makes a bit more sense in the second, and is certainly more complex. I may have seen the third, but barely remember it.

Anyway, the plot of the first does mostly hold up -- the quibbles have to do with minor twists, where it seems things are done 'cuz it's dramatic rather than logical. It's still a good watch.
