I've walked to work both yesterday and today. Got a lift home both days from a coworker. She can probably take me home the rest of the week, but she's on vacation next week.

The walk to work isn't bad. About 45 minutes, and it's not been too cold for me thus far. Yesterday, I got an offer of a lift into the city, which I had to decline, as that's not where I work. Today, [livejournal.com profile] mnemex walked with me as far as 39th Street in Queens, turning down two lift offers, one from a taxi driver willing to take folks into the city for free, at least during those hours when he needs 4 in the cab.

At work, our art director walked in from Brooklyn, about 2-3 hours. Someone drove her home, and today, my boss's assistant went back out in her car, after ferrying in whoever she was taking, to pick up the art director at whatever point she'd reached in her walk.

Yah. See, during the transit strike, the rule was that any car going to Manhattan, below 96th street, during the morning rush hour, had to have at least 4 people in the car. "The morning rush hour" was defined as 5 a.m. - 11 a.m., if I recall correctly.

I see. Thanks for the explanation (and *Shudder!* at the idea of being up in time to be on the way to work by 5am... ;-)
